Relink offline clips with the Link Media Dialog box
Clips in an Adobe Premiere Pro CC project are linked to media files based on the file path (location of the file) and filename. The link can be broken and remade.
When clips might go offline
If you move your media files to a new location, Premiere Pro may not be able to locate them and maintain the link between the clips in your project and the media files they link to.
When the Link Media dialog box will appear
If clips go offline, the Link Media dialog box appears automatically, so you can locate and relink your media files.
How to search for clips in the Link Media dialog box
Click the Locate button to use the Media Browser interface to locate, preview, and select a media file. Other offline clips are relinked automatically when the first media file is found.
Selective search options
Use the Match File Properties checkboxes to selectively exclude filename options, including the file extension and filename. This is useful if you intend to change the media type.
Set clips as offline
If you intend to keep one or more clips offline, and don’t want the Link Media dialog box to appear, choose Offline (for a selected clip) or Offline All.
You can right-click on offline clips in the Project panel and choose Link Media to display the Link Media dialog box.
